Hannah Joins the Family

Hannah Joy Bruggeman joined our family on August 2nd.  She was two and a half weeks before my estimated due date.  We were very excited to welcome her into this world early that morning (4:29am).  She was born at Salem Hospital amoung the 14 other babies that were born that day.  She was the smallest baby born weighing 5 lbs 7 oz. and the biggest baby weighed 11 lbs. 4 oz.

She was welcomed not only by her own mom and dad but by many many visitors.  She was the popular kid on the block as one nurse put it!

As the first grandchild on both sides of her family, she has been well loved since before she was even born!

Pregnancy

Emily had a great pregnancy with no complicatons.  We found out we were having a baby girl on March. 30th, 2010.  Em managed to finish out the school year in June at 30 weeks pregnant.  This means she had all summer to simply relax and get ready for the new little baby girl.

We announced the pregnancy to both of our families at a "birthday" dinner for Emily on Jan. 16th, 2010.  They were in shock, we literally had to convince them we were not kidding!

The last photo of Emily pregnant, when she was 37 weeks and 2 days.  Hannah was born only 3 days later.

Jason and Emily

We met at Applebee's restaurant in Roseburg, OR on March 20, 2004.  We were having dinner with a mutual group of friends.  This was spring vacation for both of us from college so Emily was home from Western to stay with her family.  We hung out everyday that week before Emily had to go back to school.  We have been together ever since.

Jason proposed to Emily at her college house in Monmouth, OR on March 20, 2006.  We went to dinner at McMinnemin's in Corvallis.  While we were dining, Jason had his friend get Em's room ready for the proposal complete with rose pedals, candles, music, and a gift.  We went to get ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery after dinner than ventured back to Em's house.  Jason finally convinced Em to go to her room.  She opened the package which was a plague from the Universal Star Counsel.  Jason had named a star, Emily Joy Bruggeman.  As Emily began figuring out what the plague said, Jason got down on his knee and pulled out the ring and asked her to marry him!  Of course she said yes!

We spent a good year and a few months planning our beautiful wedding but more importantly our lives together.  We were married by Paster Richard from Hucrest Church on July 7, 2007.

Jason continued pursueing his degree in Mathematics at Western Oregon Univ. While Emily started teaching first grade at Stayton Elementary School.  We lived in Sublimity in a two bedroom apartment with our kitty Tinkerbell.  Jason finished school in 2008 and got his job at RLSM in Independence in Nov. 2008.

In August 2009 we began house hunting in Independence, OR.  Although we looked at a total of 23 houses, we still ended up in the house of our dreams (which happened to be the first house we looked at).  We signed papers closing the deal on our first home on Sept. 11, 2009.

In December 2009, we got the exciting news that we would be expecting our first baby in August of the next year!
